Brand-new waiting room opens at Littlehampton station
Town mayor Alan Gammon cut a ribbon to officially declare the waiting room open, and then made the most of the new facility, making himself comfortable on a sofa and having a read of the Littlehampton Gazette.
The new waiting room has been created in what used to be the old engine shed, which was in a semi-derelict state before its transformation. Train operator Southern and Network Rail renewed the floor, which had collapsed about three years ago.

New staff accommodation has been provided next to the waiting room, which means that staff will be much more accessible to passengers.
Littlehampton District Lions’ Club has contributed to the waiting room, too, with a donation of books to form a miniature library for passengers while they are waiting for their trains.
