Heartfelt loss: A couple of weeks ago I said that my heart was in Wales and my feet in England well last weekend my heart was in my feet as Wales lost to Scotland.

My friend in Wales told me that in Wales they say ‘Never mind there’s another day. you can’t undo what’s been done, so actually it gives a chance to improve on what you’ve done or not do it again.’ I like that.

The Poetry and Prose evening: was a great success and between the funny and serious stuff a good time was had by all and the food was top nosh too. I am sure they will hold another one next year, do make a mental note that it would be a good thing to attend because I think many of you would have enjoyed it too.

Hubabaloo: are a group of local people who are raising funds for St George’s Brede to make it more accessible for the whole community and a “HUB” where all are welcome. We are focused particularly on installing toilets, a kitchen and upgrading the rear of the church so we have more workable space so that both the church and local community will benefit. We need at least 250K so if you can help by fundraising with us or have any idea’s to help. We would love to hear from you! We are also urgently looking for a Treasurer to join our committee. So if you have a couple of hours a week to spare, please contact us ASAP! If you would like to “sponsor” any part of our refurbishment or can offer any donation (no matter how small as every £1 counts) that would be so appreciated. Football: David Mayne has emailed me with the following information. Icklesham Casuals Football Club is 80 years old in season 2016-17 and as part of the celebrations members of the club are organising their own European Golf Tour and attempting the ambitious challenge of playing 80 holes in five different countries in less than two days. The charity challenge will be taking place on the 25th and 26th June with the first ball being struck in England at around 6 a.m. and the final putt sunk 40 hours later in Germany. Along the way they will have played in France, Belgium and Holland.

Money raised from the challenge with be shared between the Alzheimer’s Society and the Motor Neurone Disease Association while donations can also be made to fund the new community sports pavilion at Icklesham Recreation Ground. Saturday 4 March: Emma’s Baby ballet is at 10am in Brede Village Hall.visit “the giants of Brede” in Waterworks Lane Brede near Rye, East Sussex(postcode TN31 6HG) to see something really special. It is free entry so do go along and enjoy the Edwardian water pumping engines and large-scale British heritage engineering at its best 10.00-16.00.

The Village Dance is at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall a chance to whirl your partner in a waltz, foxtrot or tango as well as doing it in sequence dancing.

The Hastings Unison group meet at 10.30am in Aquila House Hastings if you have been a Unison member during your working life they would love to meet you. They have interesting outings and a meeting once a month. The Whist players will be in action in Brede Village Hall at 7.30pm. Cook Book: The Friend’s of St. Mary’s Church Udimore are publishing a recipe cookbook full of our local favourite recipes to raise funds for the upkeep of St Mary’s Church, Udimore. they are asking for recipes of all kinds, a family favourite main dish, sweet desserts, starters, soups, casseroles, canapés, simple or complicated, local or international cuisine. they could include sections for vegetarians, pescatarians, and those on gluten free or lactose free diets depending on what recipes they receive.
