British Legion Open Day and Summer Fair success

LITTLE Common Royal British Legion's bid to attract new members with a Bank Holiday fun weekend was a fantastic success, say organisers.

The centrepiece of the weekend was a summer fair on the Saturday, with stalls, competitions, games and cream teas.

Secretary Ann Smith said: "It was fantastic '“ we were very pleased to see lots of new faces, as well as the members who came to support us.

"We had a very successful afternoon on the Saturday.

"A lot of thanks are due to the people who came along, as well as the branch club and the women's section for all their hard work."

Ann said the weekend attracted 15 new members, with more people asking for membership forms during the week.

Other special events included a '60s and '70s night on the Friday with Centre Page, rockabilly band The Hustlers performing on the Saturday evening and a race night on the Monday evening.

All proceeds will go to the Poppy Appeal.
