Bungling nurse's error - disciplinary panel

Colleagues of an 'experienced' nurse listened aghast as she asked them how to use a thermometer and how to take a patient's blood pressure a disciplinary panel heard today (Wednesday).

The Nursing and Midwifery Council heard Sheila Cockx, 60, had been suspended from Peterhouse Care Home, in Church Street, Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, for three months.

On her return in July 2004 she had 'forgotten' the basic principles of nursing the panel heard.

The nurse was put on monthly reviews when the home manager discovered she had 'accidentally forgotten' to give four frail patients their daily medicine on 9 September

2004.
