Two people who went to the same village school before going their separate ways have now married.
Andrew Briggs and Alice O’Brien attended Bury CE Primary School at the same time but were in different classes, so probably hardly spoke to each other.
They were both featured in the West Sussex Gazette newspaper when three rural Church of England schools joined together for the first time for book week. Andrew was dressed as Wally, from Where’s Wally, and Alice was Burglar Betty from the book Burglar Bill.
Many years later, they met up again and romance blossomed.
Computer whizz Andrew had gone on to become a front end designer in Shoreditch and Alice worked for retail fashion house ASOS in London.
Having been together for ten years, Alice then posted on Facebook: “Some of you may think this is a bit premature but we are engaged!”
The wedding took place in Bury Church last Saturday. The ceremony was conducted by Father David Twinley, who returned specially to Bury from Arundel. He had conducted the wedding ceremoney for Andrew’s elder brother, Philip, ten years earlier.
Best man Ed Trent and many of the guests came from the same village primary school.
