A DELIGHTED competition winner has been handed £100 worth of vouchers to spend around Midhurst thanks to a community business scheme.

Sylvie Hutcheson has been named the 2014 Midhurst Christmas Competition winner after Ted Liddle of Pro-Tec Security made the draw from more than 800 entries.

Sylvie, from Cocking, was the first name out of the hat.

Sylvie, who entered the competition at Me & Maya in Knockhundred Row, was thrilled to receive the first prize.

She said: “I was so surprised to hear I’d won – I never normally win anything and I was in such a rush that day that I almost didn’t enter but thank goodness I did.

“I’ve already used some of the prize money to give my granddaughter some clothes from Black Sheep.

“Then, some of my favourite places like Seven Fish, Cockburn’s and The Upholsterer are on the list, so I’m going to enjoy spending the rest.”

The second and third prize winners were from Grayshott and Tillington, who both won £50 worth of vouchers to spend with participating shops in Midhurst.

Carolyn Bishop, owner of Black Sheep and a member of MidhurstFirst said: “We were so pleased with the response to this year’s Christmas competition and the record number of entries we received.

“It’s been so popular that we’re definitely going to run another competition later in the year so keep
an eye out in town for details.”
