CAMELSDALE Garden Club now holds a spring bloom evening, rather than a show.
Members can enter any bloom from their garden which they feel is right up to standard on the night.
Many different blooms were put before the judge, Paul Patton, and a nearly-black iris, shown by Colin Williams, was the winner.
Mr Patton, an enthusiastic organic gardener making a welcome return visit to the club, gave a talk on Growing for the kitchen.
Concentrating on vegetables and herbs he talked about when and how to plant and harvest, how to feed, and deal with pests.
The next meeting, on Wednesday, April 19, at 7.30pm in St Paul’s Church hall, is a bring-and-buy event and quiz.
