Mr Mansbridge was a keen footballer and three teams he played for - Hailsham Town Veterans' Football Club, East Hoathly Football Club and Hellingly Hospital Veterans' Football Club - will play on the day.

Magham Down, a team Mr Mansbridge helped coach, will also join them.

Adam, his son, said: 'We are going to have a minute's round of applause to remember dad.

'The idea for the event came from our family and friends and two teams will play against each other but in each half of the match.

'We are hoping to make it an annual event and we want to organise a trophy for next year.'

Hundreds of people came to honour Mr Mansbridge at his funeral by wearing football tops.

Entry to see the matches costs 2 for adults and 1 for children.

All money raised will go to the British Heart Foundation and the English Sports Association for People with Learning Difficulties.

The club house will serve refreshments throughout the afternoon.
