The routes where the Olympic torch will be carried through Chichester and Midhurst have been revealed.
Rogate, Midhurst, Easebourne, Tillington, Petworth, Duncton and Chichester will all welcome the Olympic flame on Monday, July 16 with local residents planning parties and events.
The streets along the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay can be viewed in full at www.london2012.com/olympictorchrelay.
The website gives street by street details and proposed start times for when the Olympic Flame will travel through the Chichester area.
Two torchbearers running with the flame have been announced – Annette Sawyer, 54, and Gerald Cooke, 70. Both were successful through the public nomination processes run by LOCOG.
Annette, from Singleton, has lived and worked around the Midhurst area for the last 20 years. She was nominated for her work with Save the Children and Lowland Search and Rescue Dogs and will be carrying the Olympic Flame through Rogate. She is the Regional Retail Manager for Save the Children, supporting and helping volunteers in 15 shops across the South of England.
Gerald, from Tillington, has been chosen to carry the Olympic flame because of the outstanding work he does in his local community. It is expected that he will carry the flame through Tillington, although this has not been confirmed.
Cllr Eileen Lintill, cabinet member for leisure and wellbeing at Chichester District Council said: “We have some incredible people within our district, who make a huge difference to those who live in their local communities.
“Monday 16 July gives us the opportunity to celebrate on the world stage the work and dedication that these people demonstrate on a daily basis.
“For the majority of us, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we want to encourage our local communities to help us to showcase what our district has to offer. The Olympic Torch Relay will involve many of the district’s attractions including Petworth House, the Cass Sculpture Park and a lunch time stop at the Chichester Festival Theatre. We also want to highlight the many sport and leisure opportunities that are available within the district.
“We want residents to be aware that the Olympic Flame will only be carried by the Torchbearers within the seven communities identified. It will travel in a vehicle at normal road speeds between each stop. The Torchbearers will be carrying the torch through Rogate, Midhurst, Easbourne, Tillington, Petworth, Duncton, or Chichester.”
