Chichester, Bognor and Petworth firefighters honoured for service

Crews from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were honoured with Long Service and Good Conduct medals at Arundel Castle last night (October 1).

Operational staff honoured for their dedication to their communities include Neil Davey and Paul Wykes from Chichester Fire Station, area manager Adrian Murphy and Stephen Saunders from Petworth Fire Station.

A special certificate was also presented to William Dawson from Bognor Regis, for 20 years’ service.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue resource and development manager Tim Smart, also from Bognor Regis, was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal for 40 years of service.

Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, Susan Pyper, presented the medals on behalf the Queen to wholetime and retained firefighters who have completed two decades of outstanding service to their community.

The ceremony was attended by chief fire officer Sean Ruth who paid tribute to the firefighters’ families for their invaluable and long standing support.
