Chichester bus service could be cut

The number 50 Graylingwell bus currently runs every half an hour, seven days a week, from the bus station through the town centre, dropping off close to Chichester Festival Theatre and then up to the university and Graylingwell Park.

Under the proposed changes, the last journey on Monday to Saturday will finish at 7.25pm instead of 10.46pm, while Sunday services will be reduced to every hour.

West Sussex County Council says low passenger usage in the morning and evening makes it expensive to run.

It is running an online public consultation about the suggested changes at haveyoursay.westsussex.gov.uk

West Sussex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, John O’Brien, said: “We want as many people as possible, whether they are passengers or someone affected by the proposed changes, to tell us what they think.

“The more people who take part, the more informed we can be when making any decision.

“Please go online and have your say.”

The number 50 is funded by Linden Homes, the developer of Graylingwell Park.
