Chichester College '˜shocked and saddened' by fatal stabbing of pupil

Chichester college has paid tribute to teenager Luke Jeffrey, saying he was '˜making great strides' towards becoming a fitness instructor.

The 18-year-old from Bognor Regis was found with fatal stab wounds in Chichester on Friday evening and died in hospital of his injuries the following morning.

Rob Giles, head of learning for sports and public services at Chichester College, said: “Everyone at the college is shocked and saddened by this tragedy. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“Luke joined the college last September as he looked to fulfil his ambition to become a fitness instructor and he was making great strides towards achieving that.

“He was a motivated student, passionate about fitness.

“Luke had the potential for a bright future ahead of him and it is shocking to see a young life taken so prematurely.

“He will be greatly missed by his friends at the college.”

Luke’s family has paid tribute to him, describing his murder as a ‘brutal, senseless and cowardly attack’.

Samuel Morgan, 19, of Adelaide Road, Chichester, appeared in Lewes Crown Court this morning charged with murder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
