Nuria Molina-Rivas and her three children braved the shave on Friday, July 15, after being inspired to help the Snowdrop Trust.

Nuria, a special needs teaching assistant, said: “It was whilst working at St Richard’s Catholic Primary School that the Snowdrop Trust first came to my attention.

“Their community nurses have supported my colleagues, children and now me, giving guidance and care for some of our pupils in our school.”

She added: “Having experienced first hand the amazing support and beneficial job that every member of Snowdrop puts in, my family and I wanted to do this small thing, hoping that it may help them to continue with their fantastic work.”

After pitching the idea to her two daughters, Laura, 9, and Izabella, 8, it was decided that the young girls would have their hair cut short, and Nuria and her one-year-old son Carlos would have their heads fully shaved.

“I am so proud of my daughters,” added Nuria. “It took Laura three years to achieve her dream of waist length hair, and now she is giving it all away so other children can benefit from it.

“After the head shave I asked them how they felt, and they said ‘We feel so good inside. We never thought people will donate so much money and feel proud of us – we were only cutting our hair!’”

The young girls’ hair has been donated to the Little Princess Trust, who provides wigs for children suffering with hair loss.

The family’s original target to raise for the Snowdrop Trust was £1,000, however in total they have now raised more than £1,700.

Nuria said: “We are overwhelmed by the respond to our fundraising campaign.
