Chichester stars shine in birthday honours

TWO local stars have been named in the Queen's birthday honours.

Kate Mosse, bestselling author and founder of the Women’s Prize for Fiction, is to receive an OBE for Services to Literature.

The novelist, who is also a former administrative director at CFT, was thrilled with the news.

“It’s a particular pleasure for me that this has happened now - as the last of the Languedoc Trilogy, Citadel, publishes,” she said.

“It’s the end of a long period of time writing and, so to receive an OBE in the very same month as this huge project draws to a close, makes it extra special. I’m also thrilled to be among so many fabulous women and men of Sussex, honoured in the Queen’s birthday honours list.’

Also named in the list was John Rudkin, a youth worker with Tangmere Youth Club, who will receive a British Empire Medal for services to young people.
