Chichester woman to bathe in baked beans for charity

A fund set up in the wake of the Shoreham air disaster has received more than £15,000

Helen Cookson will be joined by her friends outside Westgate Leisure Centre in Chichester as she climbs in a bathtub filled with baked beans - but it’s all for a great cause.

The event, taking place at midday on Saturday (August 29), will raise money for the Sussex Snowdrop Trust and Chestnut Tree House - causes Helen has supported following the tragic death of her two daughters.

Janet Leonard, who plays badminton with Helen, will be cheering her on and helping her raise awareness.

“Helen has done so well,” said Janet.

“Both her daughters died from Late Infantile Batten’s disease, but she has recovered so well.

“We are all amazingly proud of her and all the challenges she has done so far.”

Helen has undertaken 40 challenges to raise money - including giving up alcohol, fitness activities and singing in public.
