When Tim returns from his six-month space mission this Saturday, June 18, he will be greeted by ‘Gastronaut’ – his face in the form of his favourite meal.

Taking over 20 hours to build and weighing a staggering 12kg, the portrait contains all the elements of a British roast dinner, including carrots, garden peas, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower, meat and gravy.

Renowned food artist, Prudence Staite, designed the culinary masterpiece and it forms part of a variety of celebrations cooked up by the Rose and Crown in Bexhill-On-Sea.

As well as commissioning the four-foot ‘Gastronaut’, the pub will also be giving away meals to mark the occasion.

Tim Peake and his family will be provided with free roast dinners for life and a lucky few guests will be given complementary Sunday Roast Burritos.

All customers have to do is say the word ‘Gastronaut’ when ordering food between 3pm and 4pm on Sunday, June 26.

Sophie Hazelden, general manager at the Rose and Crown, said: “It’s been so exciting to follow Tim’s journey over the last six months and to see how he has become an inspiration for adults and children of all ages.

“We’re big fans of the traditional roast dinner here at the Rose & Crown, so it was great to hear that it was also one of Tim’s all-time favourite meals.”

Sophie added: “We wanted to commemorate his return to earth with a gastronomical memento to celebrate his achievements – as well as a free treat for local foodie families.

“I hope Tim is looking forward to enjoying a delicious roast dinner with his family when he returns next week.”
