And to get into the Pride spirit, the West Street food outlet will serve up a rainbow mayonnaise sauce to serve with its chips on Saturday (August 5).

Dashal Beevers, who founded BeFries with his brother Chan, said: “When we opened a year ago we wanted BeFries to be a very Brighton business - whether that’s working with local independent businesses, supporting grassroots charities or taking part in some of the amazing events that the city has to offer.

“Pride encapsulates everything that Brighton is about so it was only natural that we combined those celebrations with our own birthday. We think this tasty and colourful sauce is the perfect way to mark both of these milestones.”

The colourful new sauce is a rainbow-coloured sweet and sour syrup poured over Belgian mayo.

BeFries, which serves up a range of sauces with its double cooked fries, is known for its work with the homeless, handing out more than 1,000 portions of chips to the city’s rough sleepers.

It also works with local independent businesses in creating a range of special sauces and collaborations.

Dashal, who has lived and worked in the city for more than 20 years, said: “I’d be lying if I said the last year has been easy but what we have achieved has been above and beyond anything that Chan and I thought possible.

“We couldn’t have achieved even half of that without the support of our families, our staff but also our amazing loyal customers

“We just want to say thank you to everyone who has helped us along the way. We both hope it is the first of many anniversaries still to come.”
