Is the circus coming to Midhurst?

A series of advertising hoardings outside the McCarthy and Stone Turner House retirement homes in Midhurst make it look like the circus is coming to town, according to town councillor Steve Morley.

He told fellow members of the planning committee, although he was sure no regulations were being contravened: “If you put them all together, you would have one hell of a big billboard. I personally think its an eyesore coming into town from that direction with flags, adverts and billboards. They look like circus fliers.”

The committee is to ask Chichester District Council to look into the conditions of planning approval for the development, which is in the town’s Conservation Area.
