Circus theme for West Sussex summer reading group

A NUMBER of events are taking place at libraries across the area as part of a summer reading initiative.

The Summer Reading Challenge, run by West Sussex County Council’s library service will luanch at Chichester library on July 16.

The scheme, with a theme of Circus Stars, is aimed at encouraging youngsters to read through the summer months, instead of letting their reading levels drop while they are not at school.

The launch event takes place from 10am to 4pm, when there will be face painting, a circus workshop, and a street dance demonstration.

There are a number of events following the launch.

On Thursday, August 4 a theatre workshop is taking place at Chichester library from 10.30am to 12 noon.

On Friday, August 5, from 2-4pm there will be a story and craft session at Chichester library.

On Tuesday, August 9, from 2-3pm there will be a noisy storytime session at Bognor Regis library.

On Saturday August 13 a storytelling, circus skills and craft event will take place from at 1.30-2.30pm at Bognor library and 3.30-4.30pm at Chichester library.

On Saturday, August 20 from 10-11am there will be a noisy storytime session at Chichester library.

On Monday, August 22, from 2-4pm there will be a story and craft session at Bognor library.
