Coffee chain's plans for a second Chichester store

COSTA Coffee may be opening a second branch in Chichester after a planning application was launched by the coffee chain.

The application is for the building which is currently occupied by the bank Santander in East Street.

Costa Coffee, who already have a coffee shop on West Street, would open the new store from 6.30am until 8pm if they gained permission.

But there are already several coffee shops on East Street, including Cafe Nero, The Real Eating Company, and several cafes.

This is in addition to other coffee chains on North and South Street such as Starbucks and Cafe Rouge.

The Observer understands the application is for a second coffee shop on Chichester high street, rather than the current one moving premises. The application is for a cafe with 22 tables and a staff area.

This will be just another Costa’s of many in the area, including a Costa Coffee outlet inside Waitrose supermarket in Chichester, another in a Tesco supermarket in Bognor Regis, and one on Midhurst’s high street, showing the coffee chain is coming up trumps in a fragile time for the many chains.
