A MEETING held at the Cowdray Estate office has identified measures to avoid future flooding in the area.

Representatives of the Cowdray Estate, Easebourne Parish Council and the Highways Agency were in attendance.

It was agreed that works carried out in 2013 had been beneficial during recent flooding, including work at North Mill Bridge to divert water via the re-aligned footpath towards additional outlets in the approach wall, allowing more water to run off into the Rother.

The Cowdray Estate is now looking closely at measures to reduce the amount of soil washing off the fields on to the A286 opposite Budgenor Lodge its proposals, after discussion with the landowner, within the next month.

WSCC will be working with the Cowdray Estate to find a way of alleviating the flow of excess water from Easebourne Street along Easebourne Lane.
