Council kickstarts fundraising to replace stolen Christmas tree lights in Burgess Hill

The Middy was alerted about the theft this morning by Father Kevin O’Brien at St John’s Church in Lower Church Road.
He said the lights had been stripped from the tree in the churchyard by thieves.

Hide AdHe added that it could cost more than £1,000 to replace them and that the annual Christmas tree lighting service at the church was now under threat following the theft.
Pru Moore, leader of the town council, told the Middy this afternoon that £250 had been immediately donated by the town council towards the lights.
She added: “We are very saddened and disappointed that people can do something like this that the entire town enjoys at Christmas time.”
