Conservatives have definitely retained control of the 71-seat West Sussex County Council.
It was announced earlier this afternoon that the party had already secured 37 seats, retaining its control of the council.
In the Chichester district, UKIP took two seats and one Conservative seat fell to an independent.
After today’s count the tally was:
Conservatives: Seven seats
UKIP: Two seats
Indepedent: One seat
The Liberal Democrats lost their Chichester East seat leaving the party with no councillors on WSCC in the Chichester area.
Conservative JOHN CHERRY, last week at the centre of a row over racist comments, lost his MIDHURST seat to independent candidate GORDON MCARA.
There were also gains for UKIP in the Bognor Regis area where voters have elected four UKIP candidates, two Conservatives and one Liberal Democrat.
