COUNTY NEWS: 23-year-old man dies after car hits wall

An appeal for witnesses has been launched after a man died when his car left the road and hit a wall, police said.

The driver, a 23-year-old from East Grinstead, died at the scene after his black Toyota Celica crashed in Wall Hill Road, Ashurstwood at around 11.55pm yesterday (Saturday, Agust 1).

Police believe they know the identity of the man killed, but he has not been formally identified.

An appeal for witnesses to come forward has been launched.

Sergeant Tony Crisp, of Sussex and Surrey roads policing unit, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who saw the crash happen or who saw the Toyota being driven in the minutes beforehand.

“An investigation has been launched to determine exactly what happened.

“If you have any information at all, please contact us.”
