Chichester man found dead in bed after night attack

A Chichester man has been named after he was found dead in his bed the morning after being assaulted.

Police

According to police, Hamish Howitt, 20, left the pub with a friend on June 30 when a man, who was part of a group of five men, assaulted his friend.

The former Westbourne House School pupil stepped in to help and was also assaulted, causing him to fall to the ground, police said.

Police attended the incident, in Catherine Hill, Frome, Somerset, but neither victims wanted to make a complaint.

The group of men had already left by the time officers arrived.

Police have confirmed that, tragically, the second victim was found dead in bed the following morning.

He has been formally identified as Hamish Howitt, 20, from Chichester.
