Eastbourne bar under investigation by police

An Eastbourne bar has temporarily closed as police investigate a potential breach of license.

The Sussex Police licensing officer said the premises was caught ‘trading in breach’ of its license on Super Saturday (July 4).

The officer said the bar, locally named as Boltons in Bolton Road, had voluntarily closed while an investigation takes place.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said, “We are looking into a reported breach of operating conditions in relation to a licensed establishment in Eastbourne on July 4.

“The matter is still under investigation and we are not disclosing any further information at this time.”

It comes after pubs, restaurants, and bars reopened on Saturday (July 4) after months of closure due to the coronavirus lockdown.
