Help sought over string of thefts across Midhurst and Petworth

Police are appealing for information to a number of break-ins across Midhurst and Petworth.

The list comes as part of a round-up of crimes that took place in the area between December 7 and 18.

• The Street, Stedham – On the morning of Monday December 7 a vehicle was broken into. Parcels and cleaning materials were stolen.

Serial 0547 07/12.

• Lower Street, Fittleworth – On Monday December 7 a vehicle was broken into. A bag, purse and house keys were stolen.

Serial 0561 07/12.

• Burton Park Road, Petworth – On Monday December 7 a vehicle was broken into and numerous items were stolen.

Serial 0600 07/12.

• Bexley Hill, Petworth – Overnight between Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 December two garages were burgled and tools were stolen.

Serials 0541 09/12 and 0935 10/12.

• Hollycombe Lane, Milland – Overnight between Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 December a business premises were burgled. Tools and equipment were stolen.

Serial 1421 10/12.

• Lavington Common, Graffham – On the afternoon of Thursday December 10 two vehicles were broken into. A purse was stolen from one of the vehicles.

Serials 0824 and 1196 10/12.

• Cowdray Park, Easebourne – On Thursday December 10 a vehicle was broken into and jewellery was stolen.

Serial 0303 11/12.

• Redford, Midhurst – Between Saturday 12 and Monday 14 December a business premises were burgled and a silver Land Rover Discovery was stolen.

• Verdley Place, Fernhurst – On the evening of Tuesday December 15 a shed was burgled and a bike was stolen.

Serial 0448 17/12.

• North Street, Midhurst – Overnight between Thursday 17 and Friday 18 December a business premises was burgled and cash was stolen.

Serial 0331 18/12.

District commander chief inspector Jon Carter added: "Theft from cars and garages is unfortunately a perennial problem but efforts have been, and are being, made to deter and detect this type of criminality.

“We have increased our proactive patrols in hot spot areas and are urging everyone to report any suspicious behaviour to us without delay.
