Man charged with stabbing Eastbourne teenager

A man has been charged with the stabbing of a 15-year-old boy in Eastbourne.

Joseph Heavey, 30, unemployed, of Seaside, Eastbourne, appeared in custody at Brighton Magistrates Court on this afternoon (Tuesday January 12) and was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a boy outside an address in Seaside on Monday afternoon (January 11).

He was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on February 9.

Sussex Police say the teenager suffered a serious arm injury and is still receiving hospital treatment but his injuries are not deemed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Detective Constable Glen Saunders of Eastbourne CID said, “Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact us either online or by calling 101, quoting serial 551 of 11/01.”
