Povilas Augustinskis, of Wrotham Road, Gravesend, was stopped on Udimore Road shortly after midnight on Monday, June 29 because officers suspected he could be over the limit.

The 35-year-old had 61 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of his breath - almost twice the drink-drive limit.

He had already served a 13-month drink-driving ban imposed in 2009.

Augustinskis pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 22.

He was banned from driving for three years, fined £200 and ordered to pay £235 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

A total of 82 people have so far been convicted of offences as part of Sussex Police’s summer Operation Dragonfly drink and drug-driving campaign.
