EASEBOURNE villagers are counting the cost of a ‘mindless’ attack by vandals on their bus shelter which was installed less than three years ago.
The vandals targeted the shelter in Easebourne Lane at its junction with Egmont Road on two occasions, smashing one toughened glass panel and returning to wreck three more.
Chairman of Easebourne Parish Council Ian Heustice said: “This happened only a few days after our annual village clean-up when everybody gets together to try to make the village look better. I find it infuriating to think we all live in a lovely village where things are generally well looked after and yet there are mindless vandals so bored to the extent they want to go around and do this sort of damage.”
He said it would cost some £1,000 to repair – a bill which would have to be picked up by villagers.
