A large stone griffin was stolen from its perch in Midhurst.
The statue, identical to the one in the picture, was taken from the grounds of the Cowdray Estate.
The large concrete griffin used to stand along the gateway to Moorlands Farm at the Cowdray Estate at Ambersham.
The incident occurred overnight last Thursday (October 11), some time between 1am and 10am.
Two security lights were also taken along with the 1½ft statue.
Police confirmed the statue alone was worth £2,000.
Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the griffin, and the large statue shouldn’t be too hard to spot.
Anyone with information on this incident, should call Sussex Police on 101 quoting reference number 785 11/10/12.
