People in the Midhurst and Petworth area are being warned to be on their guard against a new scam which has emerged as Christmas approaches.
The scam involves a card posted through letter boxes from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting they were unable to deliver a parcel and asking householders to contact them on a premium rate number (0906 6611911)
A spokesman for the trading standards office said: “Do not call this number as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.
“If you do and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.”
Anyone who receives a card from PDS, should contact Royal Mail Fraud on 0207 239 6655.
