Teenager arrested after chocolate cocaine seized at Gatwick

COCAINE with an estimated value of £350,000 has been seized by Border Force officers at Gatwick Airport.

The drugs were found inside tubs of chocolate powder hidden inside a suitcase after officers stopped two passengers at the airport’s South Terminal on Saturday March 10.

The travellers had just arrived on a flight from Antigua.

The drugs weighed around 3.5 kilos and are estimated to be valued at thousands of pounds when cut and sold on the street.

A 39-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl from the Walsall area were arrested in connection with the seizure and have been bailed until June 8.

Ingrid Smith, Border Force assistant director for Gatwick Airport South Terminal, said: “As this detection shows, our officers are on constant alert, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to keep class A drugs and other banned substances out of the UK.

“We are determined to prevent this terrible trade which can have such a destructive impact on the lives of so many.”
