Three police officers charged with dangerous driving after crash in Chichester

Three police officers will appear in court after being accused of driving dangerously before a crash in Chilgrove last year.

The three officers, who were off-duty and riding motorbikes, were travelling south towards Chichester at 1.20pm on Saturday, July 11.

According to Sussex Police, two of the motorcyclists suffered multiple injuries when they were in collision with a red Ford Fiesta.

A spokesperson added: "The driver of the red Ford Fiesta involved, an 80-year-old man from Chichester and his female passenger sustained minor injuries.

"PC James Latter, 30, based at Lewes; PC Ahmet Yapicioz, 53, based at Gatwick and PC Alan Harris, 30, based at Lewes have been summonsed to court to face the charge of dangerous driving.

"Yapicioz and Harris were also summonsed with driving at a speed exceeding 60 miles an hour."

The three will appear at Worthing Magistrates’ court tomorrow (Tuesday, February 9).
