Warning after rogue traders target Stedham, Milland and Lurgashall

Police are warning people in the Midhurst and Petworth are to be on their guard against rogue traders calling at their homes after villagers in Stedham, Milland and Lurgashall were targeted.

Sgt Jonathan Chapman, head of the Midhurst and Petworth neighbourhood policing team, said villagers at Milland and Lurgashall had reported cold callers who offered to tarmac their drives.

At Stedham, a villager received a call from someone who said he was a tree surgeon.

Sgt Chapman warned householders never to let people into their homes without asking for identification.
