Crowds flock to food festival

AROUND 4,000 people enjoyed the second Glynde Food and Drink Festival at the weekend.

This year's event was boosted by the English Wine Festival which enjoyed a successful first year at Glynde Place.

More than 60 food and drink producers from across the South East exhibited produce on Saturday and Sunday.

BBC Master Chef 2006 Peter Bayless and Lewes childrens' author Amanda Grant were just two of the guests who gave lively and informative demonstrations.

Francis Brand, a co-organiser of the event, said: 'All in all it was a fantastic event.

'The majority of exhibitors were from East and West Sussex and we had some great stuff from slightly further afield from Kent, Hampshire and Surrey.

'I think the hardened English Wine Festival goers also had a good time.'

Mr Brand promised the event would be even bigger and better in 2008 and fellow organisers have already started planning.
