The 68-year-old was flown to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton but died later that same day.

A post-mortem showed that Mr Bridger had suffered a medical episode, a spokesman from Sussex Police said.

The spokesman added that Sussex Police and the coroner were no longer investigating the incident.

Sergeant Peter Verney said: “This is an extremely tragic incident and our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this time.”
