Whether you have two left feet or not, everyone is invited to strut their stuff and raise some cash for Diabetes UK by taking part in a mass zumbathon.

Dubbed Dancing for Diabetes, the foot-tapping event will take place out side the Tesco store in Shripney Road on July 13 and has been organised by instructor Louise Simons.

Louise said: “I am looking forward to the event, because it is a fantastic opportunity for me to get involved in an exciting fundraising event for the community, Tesco and its customers.

“The money we raise from this challenge will support the important work of Diabetes UK.”

The energetic event will see members of Louise’s zumba classes, as well as anyone else who fancies giving it a go, completing two hours of the Latin-inspired exercise.

“This is about rasing awareness for diabetes, but at the same time it would be great if we could highlight the importance of exercise and healthy eating,” said Louise.

Louise, who has been a zumba instructor for 16 months, said getting involved with the event has made her realise how much of an issue diabetes is.

“There are three million people in the UK living with diabetes and then there are about another 850,000 who have the disease but just haven’t been diagnosed with it,” she said.

A number of ladies who attend Louise’s classes will be taking part in the effort and have been busy collecting sponsorship.

“I got involved with the event after one of my ladies who works in Tesco asked me if I would be interested in hosting the event.

“Since then we have been working hard in class to prepare for the challenge,” added Louise.

She has also enlisted the expertise of three other instructors to help out.

Those wanting to give it a go can turn up on the day and donate to dance, whether that be for the full two hours or not.

The event will contribute to the £10m fundraising target Tesco colleagues across the country are aiming to reach for Diabetes UK, their national charity partner.

The fun starts at 10am and finishes at midday.

Details about the events can also be found on Louise’s Facebook page www.facebook.co.uk/ZumbaBognor
