Dirty Dubbers clinch a first prize

A first prize for a first entry was the proud achievement of the Dirty Low Down Dubbers VW enthusiasts.

The illuminations gala's theme of travel was perfect for their collection of the famous camper vans and Beetles. They scooped first place with a trophy and 50 for the best float entry.

The 25-30 members also entered into the spirit of the occasion with some lavish internal and external illuminations.

The club was formed in May and meets fortnightly for a drive along the seafront before meeting in a pub for a drink.

Some 25 of the club's 30 members took part either in the cars or on the BMX cycles. Three colleagues from the Worthing club joined in as well.

Second place in the floats category '“ with 25 and a trophy '“ was awarded by the judging panel of civic dignitaries to Bognor Regis Scouts, with Sammy Community Transport third.

The walking category again proved a winner for the South Coast Astralettes. Their Astralettes Tours entry complete with aeroplane trailer and dancers in their red and white cabin crew uniforms provided a ticket to first class success.

But their success of a 50 cheque and a trophy was hard fought. Just one point separated them from the runners-up, the 15 dancers in the Regis Troopers.

Their van had an illuminated montage of methods of transport such as boats, aeroplanes and trains. They received 25 and a trophy.
