News from Ninfield and Hooe

NINFIELD FLOWER GROUP: The Jumble Sale held on Saturday, March 15 was very successful, it raised 470 for Flower Group funds, this was after all expenses had been paid. The money raised is for their next Flower Festival which will be held in 2009.

The next meeting to which visitors are most welcome is on Monday, April 7, it will be held in the Memorial Hall from 7.30pm.

NINFIELD GOLDEN CIRCLE: The guest speaker at the meeting on Tuesday, March 15 was Darren who talked about Wiltshire Farm Foods, a family run business, and brought samples of the delicious food on offer and gave each member a brochure detailing the dishes offered.

They deliver ready cooked meals to your door, the menu includes a range of soups, main meals and desserts. Each dish carries an identifying colour code including diabetic, lower fat, moderate salt to vegetarian. They deliver in Ninfield on Tuesday between noon and 2pm.

The samples were very tasty indeed all the ladies had to do was remember that two of their colleagues had prepared tea! Darren was warmly thanked for all he had done to make his visit on behalf of Wiltshire Farm Foods so enjoyable. If you would like to know more please ring 0800 773773. The ladies next meet on Tuesday, April 15.

NINFIELD HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: The guest speaker on Wednesday, March 19 was Wing Commander Patrick Coulcher, always a welcome guest, his subject the Natural History of the Highlands of Scotland. As is expected of him his talk was absolutely fascinating and included beautiful slides of many birds including guillemots, capercaille, puffins, white tailed seagulls, barn owls and red kites among many others.

The plants included heath spotted orchids and rare alpines, there were slides of insects and a wild mountain cat.

Patrick was thanked for a wonderful evening and warmly applauded by his audience, he will be most welcome to visit again.

CARNIVAL MUSICAL EVENT: I am sure those who have accepted the invitation to the Musical Afternoon are looking forward to it.

It is bound to be most enjoyable and the Carnival Committee will have worked hard to make sure it will be. I look forward to seeing you there.

The pleasure starts at 2.30pm in the Memorial Hall and ends at 5.30pm.

NINFIELD PARISH COUNCIL: The next meeting will be in the Methodist Church Hall, Church Lane and will start at 7.15pm as usual.

l am sure there will an item of interest to Ninfield residents on the agenda. You will be welcome and encouraged to make your views known.

CHURCH FLOWERS: Margaret thanks all the ladies who decorated St. Oswald's church for Easter. I look forward to seeing them on Sunday.

All the ladies who gave so freely of their time and talent to create such beautiful arrangements in St. Mary's church are much appreciated by she who fetches the water. The church looked lovely on Easter Sunday.

CLOCKS: Please remember to put your clocks forward one hour tomorrow night. It could prove to be embarrassing arriving somewhat later than expected can present problems for everyone concerned!

THANK YOU: I know we will miss Lesley the practice nurse who left us at Easter. I am sure you will join me in thanking her for all she did so cheerfully while working at the surgery and in wishing her well in the future.
