Dog killed and man injured as wall collapses in Bognor

An elderly man is said to have been injured after a flint wall collapsed in Bognor Regis this morning in the storm.

The man was taken to hospital but his condition has not yet been disclosed.

His dog however is confirmed to have died when it was crushed by the falling wall in Blake’s Road just before 8am this morning, Monday, February 8.

The flint wall toppled into the public roadway on top of the man and his dog, a spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said.

Ambulance, fire and police all attended to assist the man and make the scene safe, while the RSPCA assisted the dog.

Storm Imogen struck the south of England late last night, and winds of up to 80mph brought down trees and power supplies across Sussex.
