HEADTEACHER of Fittleworth Primary School Graham Bloomfield is saying a double ‘thank you’ to supporters.
The school has just completed a long awaited refurbishment of their curriculum kitchen thanks to the hard work of the PTA committee and the generosity of the school community.
“As well as raising money from its annual cycle of fundraising events, many members of the local community dug deep. A new allotment area was completed a year ago and is already self sustaining, selling excess seasonal produce to parents and friends.
“Six years ago, when I arrived at Fittleworth, the kitchen doubled as a staff room and was not fit for purpose in either respect. Since creating a new area for staff to meet, the kitchen has become of increasing importance to our creative curriculum. The new kitchen is a real joy.”
In addition staff and regulars at The Badgers Inn, Coultershaw Bridge raised £900 for sports equipment at school during their Pubathon: “This money will give a huge boost to another major project; to improve sports provision. As well as reinstating playground markings, we hope to create a sports wall with a football goal, cricket stumps and a tennis net, as well as installing a basketball hoop.
