Driver airlifted to hospital after Rustington crash

A MOTORIST has been airlifted to hospital following a crash in Rustington this morning (Thursday, January 9).

The collision took place in Station Road, shortly before 7.30am.

Two cars were involved, a blue Citroën Saxo and a Toyota. Emergency services rushed to the scene.

No one was trapped in the either of the cars, with West Sussex Fire and Rescue confirming that a member of the public had helped one of the injured motorists out of their vehicle.

One of the drivers suffered a ‘serious injury’, a spokesman for Sussex Police said.

However, the details of this injury have not yet been released.

The injured driver was airlifted to Southampton Hospital.

The road was cleared and reopened shortly after 9am.
