The white or light coloured box van drove away after an accident on the A285 north of Halnaker, near Chichester, Sussex Police has confirmed.

At around 4.20pm the van was travelling towards Chichester on the wrong side of the road when two cars travelling in the opposite direction collided while taking evasive action.

The drivers of a blue Hyundai and a black Audi both sustained minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

Sergeant Tony Crisp, of the Arundel road policing unit, said: “We’d like to speak to the driver of the van, which continued on its way, and also the occupants of a silver Volkswagen car that may have been following it.

“They, and also any other people who may have seen what happened, are asked to get in touch as soon as possible.”

They can do so by emailing [email protected] or phoning 101, quoting serial 1116 of 28/06.
