FIREFIGHTERS were called to a house in Duncton in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, January 15) when drains in the road outside overflowed during torrential rain and flooded the ground floor.
The alarm was raised shortly before 4.30am.
A crew from Petworth answered the emergency call and cleared the drain in Willett Close to reduce the water level in the nearby house.
There was more weather misery for early morning motorists on the A285 when the road was closed between Selhurstpark Road at Upwaltham and the A272 at Pound Street in Petworth at 6.30am after a tree fell blocking the road.
The river Rother at Woolbeding and Stedham is close to flooding its banks and a flood warning is in place.
