MILLIONS were glued to their televisions by the Olympics closing ceremony, but one Duncton student had an even better view of the celebrations.
For Ella Fleetwood, 17, was one of the dancers at the historic event.
Speaking of how it came about, she said: “I got an email advertising it, and thought it didn’t matter if I didn’t get it, going to the audition in London would be a good experience.
“I’ve always loved the Olympics. I remember watching the last time in Beijing and looking at the dancers and thinking how great they were.”
After she got through the audition, rehearsals began every weekend, and all of this while the St Philip Howard student was studying for her AS-levels.
She said: “Nothing can prepare you for going into the stadium with all the seats and the people everywhere.
“It was quite crazy. I met Darcey Bussell and got her to sign my programme – it was really exciting.”
