EASEBOURNE villagers are appealing for careful driving as the start of the polo season approaches.
And now they have enlisted the help of West Sussex County Council to try to get their safety message across.
At a meeting of the county local committee in Lodsworth on Tuesday night attended by resentatives of parish councils across the Midhurst and Petworth area, an Easebourne mother raised her concerns.
She said polo traffic coming from the Fernhurst and Haslemere direction was directed down Wheelbarrow Castle past the primary school on its way to the Cowdray Polo Club grounds.
It generally used the road about 3pm when children were leaving the primary school and crossing the road at a point where visibility was limited.
She told chairman of the county local committee, Michael Brown that in the long term it was vital to have a traffic light-operated crossing outside the school, but it was important to take safety measures in the short term.
She asked the county council to write to the polo club asking its members to take extra care on Wheelbarrow Castle.
