PETWORTH Primary School children are a talented bunch and now they have received the prestigious Artsmark Gold Award to prove it.
The National Arts Council award goes to only a handful of schools who can show art provision benefits pupils to such an extent that it impacts on their general development and attainment through to Year 6.
Much credit goes to the leadership of art co-ordinator Anghard Greenway who, with the support of staff, has developed an award-winning creative curriculum.
“We were confidence our provision is so good – supported by a dedicated team of teachers and brilliant children – that we should ‘Go for Gold’,” she said.
“We had to meet very stringent criteria and received a visit from an Arts Council verifier who then made judgements about the work she saw in and around the school and put our application forward to a team of judges.”
