PLAISTOW and Kirdford Primary School youngsters have been out to discover what people in their community do for them.

And pupils from the reception class paid a visit to Billingshurst library and fire station as part of their studies.

At the library, the children listened to librarians telling stories.

They found out how to look for books and borrowed books.

At Billingshurst fire station, they saw all the equipment on the fire engine, tried out firefighter uniforms, sat inside the fire engine and even had a go at using the fire hose.

Katherine Martlew, the reception class teacher, said: “We all had a great day and would like to thank the staff at the Billingshurst library and fire station.”
