CHILDREN were joined by a professor for an evening of poetry.
Year 8 pupils at Great Ballard school had to learn a poem off by heart and recite it to their English teacher.
The best were selected to perform in front of an audience of parents, pupils and staff.
Professor Diana Barsham attended the evening to judge the performances and share some of her favourite poems. Proff Barsham is currently involved with Great Ballard and the University of Chichester in the Otters Papers project, set to launch next year.
The poetry evening has been held at the school for almost 20 years.
